I want to eat Li Yen's Polo Bun before having the authentic polo bun from that anonymous stall that my parents and I chanced upon at 5am when we were in Mongkok. My soul is craving for the milky, custard-ey, sweet, crusty polo bun and coming across it on Wikipedia by accident is not helping.
I remembered that my mom bought three polo bun and she asked me if I wanted any. I said I did not want any. I could still remember the voice I had when I was 11 and how I shook my head, about to throw a tantrum because it was 5am. I thought to myself who the hell will wake up at 5am!! My whole body was protesting to the dark skies. It was barely morning. Having said this, I woke up at 5am this morning to do laundry.
Back to the polo bun, yes my mom offered if I wanted any. I said no. It was the last day of the Hong Kong trip and in the airport, I got so hungry. My mom still had the three polo buns with her. Like any hungry person, I would eat anything to stop my angry tummy. I happily took one.
By Golly, the first bite gave me this bliss that I can never ever forget. It's the same bliss when I had my first foie grass, first taste of truffle, first bite of good tau foo far...
I was a very happy girl.
Half way when I was munching on my polo bun, the tour guide ushered us up to our flight. I was frowning because I was enjoying my polo bun to actually leave the airport but oh well, as a eleven year old, there's nothing much I can do but to oblige. Plus, I certainly do not want to stay back in Hong Kong! I got onto the flight, with the remaining polo bun in a bag I was grasping tightly in my tiny hands.
Nobody knew where the remaining two polo bun went until my mom asked. I think I said something like this: "You ate them this morning"
Fromage:
-I bought organic/biodynamic pork today because I will be cooking for very special people on Monday. :) I was quite curious and told my sister that it probably would not differ that much from normal pork. In fact, I was wrong. Biodynamic pork smells very nice despite it being raw.
-I cleared up my house yesterday and found out that my place, despite it being clean, was dirty. I still cannot imagine how people can survive without cleaning up their place!
-I STILL DO NOT WANT A BOYFRIEND! WHY IS EVERY SINGLE PARENT ASKING THAT SAME QUESTION and asking WHY? FRIENDS BACK IN MALAYSIA, PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME THAT QUESTION! DO YOU LIKE ME TO ASK YOU IF YOU HAVE BROKE UP WITH YOUR BOYFRIEND/GIRLFRIEND AFTER YOU HAVE BROKEN UP WITH THEM?
